Being up isn’t the same as being ahead

The expensive mistake is repeating what didn’t work.

You made money. The same cash flows could have made more in the S&P 500. The useful question is which decisions made the difference.

Before you look at your own record

Questions worth answering.

Which events does the comparison account for?

The goal is to account for your complete stock-picking history: buys, sells, transfers, splits and other corporate actions, dividends, fees and FX. The current Positions comparison uses supported, qualified events. Missing or ambiguous data can make an affected comparison unavailable; the scope and limits below still apply.

Is the Audit really free?

The free Audit is still being prepared. The planned offer is one Audit per IBKR account, with one chosen benchmark locked permanently. Joining the launch list requests one email when it becomes available; it does not provide immediate access.

Why is the benchmark locked?

The free Audit answers one auditable question. Changing the comparison or period creates a new question and belongs to the Pro Plan.

Do you need my IBKR password?

No. PerfectPerf works from supported Flex Query data and never requests credentials or trading access.

Which benchmarks can I choose?

The development Positions view compares a holding with a USD accumulating ETF tracking either the S&P 500 or MSCI World. The free Audit and any locked benchmark choice are still being prepared. The three benchmarks in the landing example are illustrative only.

Is this investment advice?

No. PerfectPerf analyzes historical performance. It does not recommend trades or promise future outcomes.

What does the Pro Plan add?

The planned Pro offer includes automatic Flex Query refresh, flexible periods and benchmarks, evolving history, contribution analysis, fundamentals-growth-versus-valuation attribution and downloadable reports. This describes the intended offer, not features available through the public site today.

What does per IBKR user mean?

One subscription covers the brokerage accounts associated with one IBKR login. You do not need a separate subscription for each U-number account. PerfectPerf never asks for your IBKR password.

Which holdings will reconciliation cover?

The first release is being prepared for long stocks and ETFs, including fractional shares. Cash, options, short positions and other instruments, including rights and warrants held as positions, are deferred. Checking eligible share quantities will not validate the performance of the whole portfolio.

What about corporate actions?

The planned scope includes all corporate action families affecting stocks and ETFs: splits, mergers, spin-offs, identity changes, subscriptions, tender offers, conversions and delistings. Mixed events must be interpreted together to establish their share effects, even when they also produce cash, rights or warrants. Those other components remain internal. Ambiguous evidence leaves the affected holding unreconciled; an effect that cannot be isolated prevents the account from being presented as verified.

What if my account history is incomplete?

Only eligible holding periods can be reconciled. A zero starting quantity requires complete history from account opening or a prior IBKR statement confirming zero; the first visible purchase is not proof. Older holdings may remain unreconciled while a later period, reopened after a confirmed zero balance, can be checked. Import and Operations will show missing-history warnings. Every available comparable statement matters: a later match does not erase an earlier discrepancy.

Can I add older CSV statements?

Adding older CSV statements is planned but not available yet, with no release date promised. For now, missing years remain an explicit limitation. Cash and options reconciliation, short positions, other instruments and broader benchmark choices are also future extensions, not available capabilities of this reconciliation release.

What happens to my data?

The current concept page does not collect IBKR data. Collection, access, storage, retention, and deletion terms will be published only after the operating process is implemented and verified.

How the comparisons work

The current Positions view compares each holding with the same amounts invested and fractions sold in a selected accumulating ETF. Known fees apply to both scenarios; actual received dividends and withholding remain in the holding’s return. Dated FX reference rates translate the comparison when needed. Qualified internal transfers carry the existing ETF allocation; cashless splits adjust the real share count without creating a new ETF investment. Other corporate actions need qualified treatment before the affected comparison is available.

The planned Pro analysis compares share-price growth with per-share business fundamentals over that position’s holding period. Fundamentals enter the chart when available, not before. The gap in percentage points compares growth rates, not an additive valuation attribution.

This example uses hypothetical trades and historical closing prices and gross cash dividends, frozen at 4 September 2026. SPY, URTH and QQQ represent three illustrative benchmarks. The account-level figures match the example’s funding dates and amounts; position comparisons use each holding’s own investment window. This frozen example does not demonstrate transfers or splits. Cash dividends are not reinvested; the example assumes $1 per stock order, no taxes and no currency conversion. Benchmark choices explore the demo and do not reflect the current Positions calculation. PerfectPerf provides historical analysis, not investment advice.

Read the full methodology and calculation limits. Fundamental histories may include provider restatements. This is not a point-in-time backtest. TTM values sum four reported quarters; TSMC uses annual USD-per-ADR reports because this legacy feed lacks recent quarters. Percentage growth is unavailable for non-positive starting values. Share-price growth excludes dividends.
